Our beloved Skip McGuire, owner/skipper of #182 "Lure" and representative of "The Committee" was once National Class President. Hosting the National Championship in 2005 Skip set out to win the practice race at all costs. Lo and Behold "Hen and Chickens" rocks had another idea when Skip got a little too close... Skip received a "special" award that year for representing the local Fleet so well to the visiting racers...

In 2002 Fleet members H.L. DeVore and Bill Gerety raised Shields #231 that had been sunk for over 3 years... It's a brief video but a lonnnnngg story. The video is of the final day when the boat was raised. The "whole story" was culminated in 2009 with H.L. sailing the boat in the National Championship in Chicago and winning!
